Wow! I can’t believe we are at the last week of June. I’m sharing my book picks for the last week for for fun summer reading. It’s so important to keep our kids reading over the summer and a daily celebration with a book pick may encourage them to have fun with reading.
June 24 – Swim a Lap Day
Swim a lap today in your favorite body of water. If you aren’t lucky enough to live near the water or have a pool, read some fun facts about animals that can’t swim. This “Did You Know?” book series is a great series with amazing facts for kids. If you play HQ trivia, it might help you out too.
June 25 – Log Cabin Day
Celebrate log cabin day with a story about a fictional bear building a cabin, perfect for your aspiring architects and builders. This book is inspired by the life of Henry David Thoreau.
June 26 – National Canoe Day
Nothing seems as peaceful as paddling on a canoe. This beautiful book celebrates the time on the water and what a day in a canoe might be like.
June 27 – Sunglasses Day
Sunglasses are my favorite accessory. I have way too many pairs to count. I actually found two pairs of sunglasses when I was cleaning out my classroom. So wear your favorite sunglasses today and read about Pete the Cat’s Magic Sunglasses.
June 28 – Paul Bunyan Day
I’ve always loved the tall tale books by Steven Kellogg so check out this one about Paul Bunyan. These books are fun to read and I love the illustrations.
June 29 – International Mud Day
What kid doesn’t love mud? Read this fun book by Robert Munsch all about mud puddles to celebrate mud day but keep those clothes clean.
June 30 – Meteor Day
Read all about meteors with the National Geographic Kids series. Learn how meteors form and where they occur in the sky.
