Long time, no post. I’ve been so busy with moving and now I have to pack up my classroom for the summer because we are getting new floors. I’ve been dreaming of boxes.
In my classroom, we’ve been up to some end of the year fun. Only 3 more weeks! My genius (now retired) teammate Joni shared a fabulous end of the year idea with me a few years ago. She had an appreciation day for all the kids in her class. Each student writes a letter to the other student and tells them why they are appreciated. It’s a big hit and makes the appreciated student feel really special.
We started off our appreciation days by writing letters to our principal telling why we appreciate her. Each student reads their letters to the appreciated person. Then, I make them into a book for the student to keep.

We celebrated our secretaries with this poster and my students all made them a card.
Love how this turned out! I painted Dixie cups yellow and covered them in glitter. Then I used pipe cleaners and tissue paper to make the rest.
We had cowboy week last week and it was lots of fun.We read Cowboy Boyd and Mighty Calliope. This is a really cute book.
After we read the book, we used character traits to describe Calliope. We also drew Calliope together. I love kid artwork!
We also made cowboys using a pack from First Grade Fever by Christie. These take a while but they turn out so cute!
Some of my boys insisted on making beards and goatees. Love the personality of these!
Hope you have a good week! I’ll be back to packing but I’ll try to post soon.
