Visual Plans (September 8th)

September 7, 2014
Happy Sunday! Today I am stopping by to bring you my plans this week. I had lots of requests to share my schedule so I decided to share my actual plans this week. I will probably continue to do this because visual plans take a long time and I don’t really use them for my actual plans. My schedule is still a work in progress because we have not started intervention groups yet. We finish our last round of STAR testing this week and that should lead to groups forming soon.
I have included links in these plans for things that I am using. You can get these items by downloading the plans. I know many of you are reading these posts because I see the number of page views. I would love it if you would leave me a comment so I can tell if these plans are helpful for you.

Here are my plans for reading groups. This is my first week with reading groups because we have been learning the rotations and trying to work independently. My kiddos have finally got those down so we are ready to begin groups.

I forgot to include a link to the centers that I am using. We will be finishing our back to school centers this week. We will hopefully start the September centers next week.

    1. Hi Becky! I hope to teach science and social studies but it has been removed from our schedule. We are supposed to integrate whenever possible. This week, I will focus on the desert and desert animals since that is what our reading selection is about.

  1. You don't know how helpful it is to see what another teacher is doing in her classroom….oh, wait, I guess you do lol!! Looking at you plans makes me think I need to be a little more detailed. Thanks for your help! I know what I'm going to be working on after church today!

  2. These are great and so helpful to see what someone else does. We do workshop model for reading and writing. Do you integrate your writing into rotations? Do you do a writing mini lesson? Is that where you had core extension? What do you have students do during journals? Sorry for all the questions.

  3. I can't believe you are so willing to share your weekly plans. I really enjoy the lesson plans over the visual plans so I can see how you are running your centers. I also find it very useful that you included the link to the TPT site. Thank you for that! I'm looking forward to September centers too! My question for you is how many students do you have in your classroom? Have a blessed week! -Amber

  4. I teach third and we too have had social studies pulled from our schedule. I am finding no time to teach science correctly. This is a big help to me to see how someone else schedules their class. Thanks so much!!!!

  5. Your plans are always so helpful to me! I teach 2nd grade in a small town in Alabama, and we also use Reading Street as our basal. I love seeing how you teach the strategies and skills from the basal, while incorporating other stories as well. Do you have to teach Reading Street "as written", or do you have leeway over what you leave in and take out? I can't seem to get it all in!! We also just finished STAR testing, so I'm in the process of getting my small groups started too! Thanks again for sharing! I usually end up purchasing your items you've made each week because they go so perfectly with my plans too!!

  6. Love your plans! It is great to see them as a schedule, and you kept a lot of the visuals as well. Very helpful and why do more work! Thank you for your openness and willingness to share. I love seeing your reading group rotations and plans. Good luck getting the started.

  7. Just found your blog, thanks for sharing, teach second too and this is my second year teaching. I'm sled contained so I'm teaching all subjects, it's overwhelming but seeing your lesson plans help a lot!!!!
